What is Overload Relay and how it's Works

The overload is an electrical piece that is used to operate both single and three-phase electric motors, and the Relais thermique is an important role in protecting electric motors and pumps from overvoltage, as it has multiple points, each one has a specific role. In this tutorial we will explain the overload compound, what is the relay or overload, and how the overload device works?

Definition of Overload :

Overload is a device that is often linked with the contactor, and it also contains NO open points and NC closed points, and is used in the control circuit and the main points that are used in the power circuit, and are often six points, depending on the type of overload. The main role of the relais thermique is to protect the main components of the circuit from the high power of the electrical current allowed and in some cases the overload may be linked separately from the contractor.

In terms of access points, the overload device is very similar to a contactor, as it contains three inputs bearing the letters (L1, L2, L3), which are connected to the main points of the contactor. Which might be an "electric motor or pump".

an open point NO with a digital (98-97) written on it, respectively, with a lamp called Les Lampes de Singalisation and lights up when a circuit breaks down.
Closed point NC Numbered B (96-95), it is connected in succession with the contact file.
Stop button is used to separate the main points of the Relais thermique.
The Test button is used to test the change of contact points when exposed to high current.

Features of the overload device :

The overload device is characterized by high-capacity electrical currents, it is used in many electrical circuits as it protects household appliances and refrigerants. The job is like a differential cutter.

Conclusion :

In the end, this was a simple explanation about the overload compound and how it works, and also how to install it with the contactor, which is the most important element in the automated control circuits.
